Sense & SensibiliTea

I look forward to our Annual Austentatious Afternoon Tea each year, but no more so than this year, as we'll be holding it at the historic Bembridge House in Long Beach, CA -- a home I suspect Jane would have approved of had she lived until 1906 to see it built.
In honor of Alan Rickman, our 2017 theme will be SENSE & SENSIBILITEA

Sat, Nov 4, 2017 - 1:30-3:30pm
Depending on the number of guests, we will either be seated al fresco at tables on the front lawn, or on the back patio known as Peppertree Court. Seating is uncovered, but in the event of rain, we will do our best to come up with some sort of 'coverage' solution, even if we have to use the wrap-around porch we've currently designated for the buffet or put tables in the carriage house
Tickets are $29-40
All tickets include a BUFFET of 4 finger sandwiches, scone (with fixings), potluck dessert, tea, and Sense & Sensibility themed gossip game with an Austentatious goodie basket prize for our game winner graciously donated by budding mystery novelist DJ Piper ... There may even be even a bit of Regency dancing
$29 tickets include your promise to bring a festive homemade dessert or 'dietary restriction' item (to serve at least #8). In other words, if you have a dietary restriction, please feel free to bring something that handles that need instead of a 'dessert'. Those who bring gluten-free foods will have a designated table on which to share their fare with other celiacs
$34 tickets involve you bringing something to share, plus you get to take an historic docent-led tour of the place at 3:30
$35 means you can put the notion of bringing foodstuffs right out of your pretty little bonneted head
$40 means you'd like the $35 option, plus you want to take an historic docent-led tour of the house at 3:30
BYO favorite TEA CUP, and if you want to keep a teapot on your table, do please consider bringing one to hoard, as our cache of teapots and space in which to put them will be limited :)
Period attire and sensibilities encouraged -- but most important, come as you're comfortable.
Food is graciously prepared by volunteers (as opposed to a commercial caterer) and as such, we are not able to accommodate dietary restrictions. The bulk of your ticket price goes toward facility rental. Remaining proceeds go toward Whimsicalitea - a fledgling nonprofit supporting the 'genteel arts'.
REFUND POLICY - All tickets sales are final, but if you are unable to attend for any reason, you may transfer your ticket to someone worthy of Miss Austen's attentions :)
RSVP is confirmed once payment is received. Please send funds:
• Either electronically to LECOLESIRENE@GMAIL.COM via Paypal as you would to "friends or family" (lest we be charged 'product/service' fees)
• or through the post, by check made out to SIREN SCHOOL 6475 E. Pacific Coast Hwy #259 ~ Long Beach, CA 90803
ALSO, please include WHO the payment covers along with your EMAIL so we can contact you if need be. Thanks so much!
Note: If you're wondering whether your payment has registered, Paypal payments are received nearly immediately. Checks are picked up at a PO Box each Friday morning.
Thanks as always,
your gleeful hostess, Joy
P.S. There is a wheelchair accessible WC onsite
