The Manners Maven will see you now

Hard as it may be to swallow (quick, take a sip of tea) I used to serve as a source for answers to social etiquette conundrums. Every now and then I miss it. But thanks to
Alexis Roelke and Teri Kialia Barela who chimed in as part of a discussion about our Sense & SensibiliTea event, I'm going to dive back into the fray ... with a twist ... maybe even a full Gaynor.

Going forward, I will once again observe MANNERS MONDAY and encourage you to send me your etiquette questions.

But this time, I'm hoping you will send absolutely outrageous queries, especially those that deal with faux pas from eras gone by.

Anyone game? If so, you may address me as the Manners Maven, with all the pomp such a monicker begs ;) xo ~Joy

Sense & SensibiliTea

I look forward to our Annual Austentatious Afternoon Tea each year, but no more so than this year, as we'll be holding it at the historic Bembridge House in Long Beach, CA -- a home I suspect Jane would have approved of had she lived until 1906 to see it built.
In honor of Alan Rickman, our 2017 theme will be SENSE & SENSIBILITEA

Sat, Nov 4, 2017 - 1:30-3:30pm

*FRIENDS, PLEASE RESIST THE URGE TO CONTACT THE VENUE DIRECTLY REGARDING THIS EVENT AS THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ON WHAT WE'LL BE DOING* I will be happy to help you with anything you need and/or get answers for you if I don't have them. Cheers, Joy teatravellerssocietea@gmail.com

* * *

In honor of Alan Rickman, this year's Austentatious Tea theme will be SENSE & SENSIBILITEA

Depending on the number of guests, we will either be seated al fresco at tables on the front lawn, or on the back patio known as Peppertree Court. Seating is uncovered, but in the event of rain, we will do our best to come up with some sort of 'coverage' solution, even if we have to use the wrap-around porch we've currently designated for the buffet or put tables in the carriage house. Picnicking encouraged!

BYO favorite TEA CUP, and if you want to keep a teapot on your table, do please consider bringing one to hoard, as our cache of teapots and space in which to put them will be limited :)

Period attire and sensibilities encouraged -- but most important, come as you're comfortable.

Food is graciously prepared by volunteers (as opposed to a commercial caterer) and as such, we are not able to accommodate dietary restrictions. The bulk of your ticket price goes toward facility rental and tour. Remaining proceeds go toward Whimsicalitea - a fledgling nonprofit supporting the 'genteel arts'.

REFUND POLICY - All tickets sales are final, but if you are unable to attend for any reason, you may transfer your ticket to someone worthy of Miss Austen's attentions :)

RSVP is confirmed once payment is received. (Payment info removed now that we are sold out)

P.S. There is a wheelchair accessible WC onsite
